Annapurna Base Camp Trek – From lowlands to high mountains

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a spectacular trek leading to the site of the Annapurna South Face Base Camp (4,130 m) in the Annapurna Conservation Area in the Kaski District of Nepal.

The trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary traverses a variety of terrain, from lowland villages and rice terraces to glaciers, and thus offers great scenery of both lowland villages and outstanding high mountain views. You can experience walking through villages, then climbing through forests into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a valley surrounded by high Himalayan peaks.

It is a great way to surround yourself with Himalayan peaks in a relatively short time. However, there is a chance of altitude sickness during the highest part of the trek from 3,000 m and higher.

The lodges in the hills are moderately easy to access for hikers although there is a lot of elevation gain and climbing involved which is why adequate physical fitness is certainly recommended.
