The Bardia Jungle Safari Tour in the Bardia National Park offers a variety of experiences in its vast undisturbed wilderness.

The park is home to endangered animals such as the Bengal tiger, wild elephant, greater one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, and black buck. Other endangered species include gharial crocodile, marsh mugger and Gangetic dolphin. 200 species of birds and several species of snakes can also be seen in the park. Certain ethnic groups live in the park as well and you can experience their culture and traditions.

Bardia Jungle Safari Itinerary – Example

The following itinerary outlines a possible itinerary for your Bardia Jungle Safari.

Day 1 – Drive from Kathmandu to Bardia

Arrive at the lodge where you’ll be offered refreshment and receive a briefing about lodge facilities and the program for the day.

Tour a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you’ll learn about the lifestyle and customs of the Tharus.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2 – Bardia Jungle Safari (Elephant ride and jungle walk)

After breakfast you’ll explore the park on a 1-hour elephant ride. You’ll also take in the visitor center, the crocodile breeding center, and the Tharu cultural museum.

After lunch you’ll go on a jungle walk, which is an excellent opportunity to see Nepal wildlife in Bardia National Park: wild animals, small mammals, and birds in the company of an experienced naturalist and a wildlife tracker.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3 – Bardia Jungle Safari (Tiger tracking and bird watching)

This morning’s activities include tiger tracking and bird watching. You’ll be on the lookout for the Royal Bengal tiger as well as the enormous varieties of birds found in Bardia.

After lunch you head out on a jeep drive through the park and are likely to encounter many other smaller mammals that have made the park their home.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4 – Drive from Bardia to onward destination

You’ll head to the Karnali River after breakfast in search of dolphins.

Bardia Jungle Safari – Trip Facts

About 70% of the forest consists of sal trees (which are used for the beautifully carved windows in Kathmandu) with a mixture of grass land and riverine forest.

How much will it cost?

Cost mainly depends on your duration of stay and your choice of accommodation. Most jungle safari packages are for 2 nights to 3 days costing on average US$ 70 to 400 which includes transportation, food, and accommodation, all the activities in the park and park fee.

The best season to enjoy the Bardia Jungle Safari is from September to February.
